We are sad to hear of the death of Mick Bruton on 14 November. Mick was a classy centre-threequarter who played for us for a few seasons in the mid 1970’s. He moved on to take up a post at Cardiff University, where he was Professor of Town & Country Planning and played an important role in Welsh devolution. He moved back to Leamington on retirement and was an occasional visitor to the club before his health began to deteriorate. Our sympathy and best wishes go to his family
It was another blank league programme last week, so the first and second XVs did not have games. There was some activity however - The Veterans played their second friendly of the season on Friday night when they took on Kenilworth under lights and won 19-10. The Colts played a Warwickshire League game at Stratford on Saturday, when they had to borrow two players and lost 7-22. 18th birthday boy Syd Harvey scored our try. The Under 15s travelled across the field to Old Leamingtonians in the Warwickshire Cup on Sunday and came away with a 29-13 win
This week we are entertaining league leaders Old Luctonians, who have achieved maximum points so far, to add to their success last season when they topped the league with 22 wins and dropped only one potential bonus point. Under league rules they weren’t allowed to be promoted last season but they will be this time and it looks most likely, as they have now won 70 games in a row over the last three and a half years. But someone is going to beat them some day - why not us this Saturday!
The Seconds are due to play at Coventrians on Saturday. On Sunday, the U16s are home to Old Laurentians and the U15s are away at Stratford. The mini age groups are all playing at Old Leamingtonians
