We're so pleased that you're considering joining our club. Here's the key information you need to know:
Teams
Firstly, work out which team your child(ren) will be joining. Our teams equate to school years and players move up to the next team at the start of the season in September.
Minis:
U7 - reception, year 1 & year 2 (note only children age 6 can play in games but those younger can get stuck into training and learning those key skills)
U8 - year 3
U9 - year 4
U10 - Year 5
U11 - Year 6
U12 - Year 7
Juniors:
U13 - Year 8
U14 - Year 9
U15 - Year 10
U16 - Year 11
It's easiest for your child, especially if they've never played before, to join us for a training session. Training takes place throughout September. Outside of this we recommend you contact the team age group manager to confirm the date for the next training session. Click on your team above to be taken to the team page.
Timings
Mini and Junior rugby teams train and play on Sunday morning between 10.30 and 12.00 September to April inclusive. We break for school holidays.
Full support
Each age group has a dedicated team of volunteers running it including coaches, first aiders and team managers who are the primary contact for each team. Age groups are supported by a mini & junior level committee that looks after the running of the section, kit, safeguarding, first aid and registrations.
What to bring
For their first session, bring your kids down in comfortable sports gear. If they have boots, please bring them otherwise trainers are fine. Likewise if you have a gum shield please bring it along.
Bring a water bottle with you for hydration and in the winter bring hats, gloves, base layers, and anything else to keep your kids warm while they play.
You'll get full information on the kit they need when you join.
Finding us
Our address is below and we are very easy to find situated on the A452 leading into Leamington.
Moorefields,
Kenilworth Road,
Leamington Spa,
Warwickshire,
CV32 6RG.
There's plenty of free on site parking.
On arrival
We use team flags to signal where each team is located on our pitches. Please make your way to the relevant pitch and make contact with the team manager. If you can't see the flag, or have any issues, please just ask anyone who's around or go into the clubhouse and someone there will assist you. We're a friendly bunch and always happy to help.
Food and drink
It’s a great place to come and have a bacon sandwich and cuppa while watching your kids have fun on the pitch. Afterwards it’s great to see parents and kids in the clubhouse enjoying a drink and some hot food from Ross and Jacky’s place. Match food is also supplied on days when your child plays a match (both home and away).
Membership application
When your child is ready to join us, there's a two-step process to becoming a member.
Firstly, you need to create an account on the RFU website GMS and request to become an affiliate of Leamington Rugby Club. Full details of how to do this are available here.
You then simply complete the membership application form, available to download at the bottom of this page, and hand to your age group manager.
The mini & junior team will then confirm your payment and approve your request to becoming an affiliate of the club for the season. Your child(ren) is then fully insured and, as a member, you have access to the club and all of it's facilities.
Any questions about any aspect of joining our club can be answered by contacting your team manager.
